Wayleave and Land Requirement.

The route chosen for The West Clyde Transit Link Main Line and the Spur Line to Paisley do not require any significant land requisition and for approximately 90% of the route, which is constructed on river beds, obtaining the necessary ‘Riparian Owner’ permissions and wayleaves should not present a major difficulty.

Wayleave and Land Requirements for The West Clyde Transit Link Main Line.

On the Airport Exit Section the initial route is on Glasgow Airport property until it reaches the Abbotsinch Road, thereafter there is a 50m section over vacant ground until it joins the White Cart. The route then proceeds along the White Cart, the Black Cart and the Clyde until it reaches the northwest corner of the George V Dock. From this point it is on Braehead Shopping Centre land until it crosses the south end of the George V Dock. It then crosses the Renfrew, Bogmoor and Hardgate Roads, enters the Queen Elizabeth Hospital grounds and continues to the main entrance of the Hospital. From the main entrance it enters a tunnel portal within the hospital grounds and continues via a tunnel under the Govan Road to underground stations at Linthouse/CWIC, Fairfield/BAE and Govan Cross. From Govan Cross station it continues underground  to resurface at the Govan Graving Docks and proceed along the Govan Road to Pacific Quay where it rejoins the Clyde adjacent to the BBC Complex. From this point it continues on the south bank Clyde to the west end of Clyde Place at the Waterloo foot bridge and then crosses the Clyde on to the Broomielaw and into the Monorail Terminal adjacent to the Central Station railway bridge.

The route proposed means that land requisitions (or agreements with property owners) will be confined to short stretches of the route at the following points:

  1.  Abbotsinch Road to the White Cart,

  2.  White Cart to the Black Cart at Inchinan Road,

  3.  Northwest corner of the Braehead Shopping Centre and the south end of the King George V Dock,

  4.  Queen Elizabeth Hospital Grounds to the Govan Road at Linthouse,

  5.  Broomielaw between the Central Station bridge and the Waterloo foot bridge,

  6. The Govan Road and Pacific Quay.

Wayleave and Land Requirements for the Spur Line to Paisley.

On the Airport Exit Section the initial route is on Glasgow Airport Property (running parallel to the Main Line) until it reaches the Abbotsinch Road, from here there is a 50m section over vacant ground until it joins the White Cart. The route then turns south under the M8 viaduct, along the White Cart until it reaches the foot of Harbour Road, continues along Harbour Road and Abercorn Street to  Nidrie Street (A726). At this point the track will be elevated to pass over the top of Nidrie Street. It will then continue at this level until it turns into the Monorail Station above Weir Street.

The route proposed means that land requisitions (or agreements with property owners) will be confined to short stretches at the following points:

 1. Abbotsinch Road to the White Cart,

 2. Weir Street at Gilmour Street Railway Station,

 3. Harbour Road and Abercorn Street.
